Buy a pup and your money will buy love unflinching. Rudyard Kipling
I came across this about "Puppies Behind Bars" and thought it was wonderful. I wish we had it in this country. The video, "The Puppies Behind Bars Story", is 7 minutes long but if you like dogs at all, you will just love it - many gratuitous pictures of very very cute puppies having lots of fun.

She's growing so fast! I love labradors. I have two!
What a tremendous idea that is. I'd never heard of it before.
I've heard of this idea before - through my American contacts on the greyhound forum I use. Apparently there are greyhound adoption groups who place retired racers in prisons. The prisoners train them to be canine good citizens, and everyone benefits. The dog has a better chance of finding a great home, and the prisoner gains a lot of self respect and self-confidence from working with them.
Apparently there is a lot of competition among prisoners to get on the program, which is awarded on the basis of good behaviour.
I think it's a great idea!
Two, Baino? Must be fun. I worry that, while one's not enough, two might be too many... My mum said that about children, after my wee brother!
Me neither, Ruth.
Jay, that sounds great. Maybe I should suggest it to the governor...
ALL children should have a dog to love - it should be a basic human right and a mandatory part of the National Curriculum...let's hear it for unconditional love...
Ellie agrees wholeheartedly.
