One of the few "poems" I remember the words of:
De spring has sprung,
De grass has riz;
I wonder where dem boidies iz.
Day say de boid is on de wing,
But dat's absoid;
I always thought de wing is on de boid.

No flamin' way!?! You have spring sproutin???? I am jealous...I know, I know...I shouldn't be, but I am...Enjoy for me and as soon as the flowers open, breathe deep their fragrance for me!
Smiles and blessings,
~mp:)
And now that spring is sprung (and yes I remember that poem too) apparently digging up the snowdrops (or nicking them from people's gardens) and selling them on is big business!
Danny,
That reminds me of this.
We have at least two-and-a-half more months to go before we see anything remotely like that.
It's nice to see your pix to remember what's coming.
Anne, your predictions of spring might be a little premature.
The weather forecast for the next two days is for the South East of England (200+ miles further south than Scotland) to get 10 cm (4 inches) of snow courtesy of easterly winds originating over the Russian Arctic. We in the South West expect a measly 5 cm (2 inches).
As we rarely get this sort of weather and consequently do not invest in enough snow-plougs, etc, this will result in the entire southern part of Britain grinding to a halt until the snow melts.
Don't you just love this country to bits...
Alfred of Wessex, who can't remember his gmail password...
That's my favourite poem!
Ha ha, D-P same erudite taste in poetry I see!
I may have been a wee bit early with the spring proclamation given the snow we've had subsequently, but snowdrops are snowdrops and I intend to see them as heralding spring whatever the contra-indications! So there.
